While this season’s Civil War between Oregon and Oregon State has been called the biggest game in the rivalry’s history, there have been plenty of significant – and just plain strange – Civil Wars in the past. Last game of the season for No.16 Oregon State Beavers with an overall record of 8-3 against No.7 Oregon Ducks with an overall record of 9-2. This will be game for the lead of the PAC 10 so it could be the perfect scenario for the Oregon Ducks to climb some steps on the BCS List.

Oregon State Beavers will be fighting for a chance to go to the Rose Bowl. Last season they left Oregon take their spot by losing by a ton of points. This year however could be the turning point for them, they are looking forward to this game unlike anyother this season, this is what they trained all season long for. QB Sean Canfield, RB Jacquizz Rodgers and WR James Rodgers (Both players running and receiving) will be the Beavers greatest weapon against the Ducks. The offense usually scores in average 32.4 points per game and they only receive in average 22.2 points so they have an important difference that could be translated in a ticket to the bowl now that they have decided to run the ball the same way stanford did. The Beavers main concern will be to stop Oregon’s allstar QB, he could be the biggest threat and we are expecting a very long a difficult night for the defense, they will have to shape up before thursday but in my opinion they will not be able to stop the unstoppable.
Oregon Ducks have put at least 42 points on every conference opponent in every game in which QB Jeremiah Masoli has played. Oregon spread is diabolical, because it takes advantage of whatever an opposing defense tries to do. Overload against the run, the Ducks throw. Concentrate on Masoli and RB LaMichael James will have the ball. Swarm to both, and Oregon will run triple-option and pitch. Because the Ducks never huddle, once they’re in the rhythm and the defense is on its heels, they become almost impossible to stop. Helping the Ducks shine they will have WR Jeff Maehl and TE Ed Dickson, both great players but it will be all in Masoli’s shoulders. Oregon’s biggest concern will be to control the running of the ball by the Beavers, if Oregon State runs the ball like Stanford did against them it will be a very long night for the defense as well. This might be the only chance the Beavers have and they will certainly exploit that.

BOTH DEFENSES WILL HAVE THEIR HANDS FULL BUT AT THE END ONLY THE ONE THAT CONTROLS THE BALL WILL WIN THE GAME. MY PICK WILL BE OREGON STATE BEAVERS +9½.
