Ok, so I was all the way right on VT last week even without the spread available I called them to win, I was half right with my LSU +3 pick but then they went to overtime and Bama squeezed in a TD instead of being gentlemen and just kicking a field goal thus allowing me to push on the 3 points. Bastards… This week since I’m feeling so good about the Virginia Tech pick I am going to pick their matchup with Miami this Thursday and then a Pac 10 matchup between (6)USC at Stanford on Saturday night. Below you will find the spreads and my picks as well as links to all the NCAA matchups this week.Thursday Night
Virginia Tech Hookies vs Miami Hurricanes
7:30 PM ET, November 13, 2008
Miami, FL
Spread: Miami -4
My Pick: Both teams are fighting for the ACC title with records of 6-3, but its the Hurricanes that are looking like the better team who are on a 4 game winstreak and don’t look to be slowing down. The Miami defense should be cause for concern as they have not been able to finish off teams and put games away, I think RB Darren Evans runs all over them. It looks like Robert Marve will start behind center for the Hurricanes and it will be up to him to get it done in the air, I would expect at least a couple hookups between himself and WR Aldarius Johnson. I gotta go with Miami at home -4, they just put up way too many points for the Hookies to keep up. -4 is not that bad but you can buy it down to 3 just for insurance. Give the points.
Saturday Night
(6) USC Trojans vs Stanford Cardinal
7:00 PM ET, November 15, 2008
Stanford Stadium , Stanford , CA
Spread: USC -22.5
My Pick: This is a matchup that you always have to pay attention to, it seems like every year at least one time that Stanford upsets USC is some cinderella fashion of play to win in the closing seconds. Now regardless of the fact that USC is ranked 12 in the nation in total offensive yards and Stanford is ranked 80th. Forget the notion that Trojan QB Mark Sanchez has thrown over 2200 yards this season for 24 TD’s and only 7 INT’s compared to Cardinal QB Tavita Pritchard’s 1200 yards and only 9 TD’s and 9 INT’s. This won’t matter because Stanford is going to run anyways with Toby Gerhart. Forget all the hype and the #6 USC ranking because this week Stanford may not win, but they will at least threaten to win and that +22.5 is flat out high way robbery. TAKE THE POINTS NOW!!!.
