Ferrari threatened retiring of Formula 1 if the International Motor racing Federation (FIA) imposes a standard motor in the competition with the aim of reducing costs, after a similar warning of Toyota.
The Italian issued an official notice in which indicates that although they adheres to the idea to reduce costs, the standardization would put in doubt “the reason of being of a sport in which Ferrari has evolved continuously from 1950, based mainly on the competition and the technological development”. If its argument is rejected, Ferrari “will think and talk with its partners the viability to continue its presence in the sport”, according to the letter from Maranello, place of Ferrari.
