I went 8-6 last week to bring my yearly total to 50 - 48 – 3. I also cleaned house in my fantasy league and the train to the superbowl is starting to pick up speed. NK NK NK. This week there are some juicy spreads on the board that I plan to take advantage of. Below are the matchups with spreads, totals, and my picks.
Teams on Bye Week: Chicago, Denver, Green Bay, Minnesota
Sunday October 26th
San Diego Chargers -3.5 46.5
New Orleans Saints
My Pick: This game is being played at Wembley Stadium in London, England. It is all part of the NFL’s plan to enhance the World League’s image if they are even around any more, I have no idea… Regardless, LT has not put up any points and his production is comparable to that of a line man trying to out run a DB down field. The Charger secondary is completely suspect and unreliable and Brees is still the #1 QB in the league so I suspect some long bombs to Devery Henderson before the days is done and Duece should fill in nicely for the injured Bush. These guys are going to put on a show for the Brits and that means long passes. The Saints just look better on paper. Take the points.
Kansas City Chiefs
NY Jets -12.5 38.5
My Pick: The poor poor Chiefs, EVERYONE loves to play the Chiefs and after the Jets loss in overtime last week they will be looking for redemption. They seem to have faltered a bit with the passing game and even the short lived Thomas Jones comeback seems to have fizzled. I think the Jets will win, but not cover. Take the Chiefs, take the points, wait scratch that, LJ has been inactivated for Sunday, take Brett ol Boy and give the points.
Atlanta Falcons
Philadelphia Eagles -9 46
My Pick: Atlanta is hungry and Matt Ryan and Roddy White are on fire. Oh and don’t forget about Michael Turner. Philly is still a little banged up and I am not a believer. Take the points.
Buffalo Bills -1 42
Miami Dolphins
My Pick: Are you kidding!!! Not only is this a classic matchup, but its in Miami where the Fins have been pretty good. Take the lousy point.
St. Louis Rams
New England Patriots -7 43.5
My Pick: Sammy Morris is hurt looking like he is not going to play, the Lambs are on a roll, but still not that good. I think New England sticks it in them like they did against the Broncos. Give the points.
Arizona Cardinals
Carolina Panthers -4.5 43.5
My Pick: Delhomme has lit up the Cards for over 600 yards and 5 TD’s in the last 3 meetings with AZ and after last weeks performance I expect him to do it again. The line should be 6 so its a steal right now. Give the points.
Oakland Raiders
Baltimore Ravens -7 36
My Pick: This is the week when Darren McFadden earns his check and he will do it against the top rated rush defense of the Ravens. Take the points.
Washington Redskins -8 42.5
Detriot Lions
My Pick: Much like the Chiefs, everyone LOVES to play the Lions, they have basically thrown in the towel anyways for the first pick next year so I expect a field day for the Skins. Give the points.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Dallas Cowboys -1.5 40.5
My Pick: Dallas sucks! and Tampa Defense can do enough to win the game, they can stop the run and there is not going to be alot of passing from Brad ol Boy. Take the points.
Cleveland Browns
Jacksonville Jaguars -7 42
My Pick: The Jags have been off the radar for a moment but they are the same strong running team they always were. Cleveland needs to get passed their distractions and man up like they did against the Gigantes and they can cover. Take the points.
NY Giants
Pittsburgh Steelers -3 42
My Pick: The Giants need to run run run and then pass against the Pitt D. Big Ben will be looking to hook up with Ward and the Giants have been a little suspect in the secondary lately so I gotta give the points in this one.
Cincinnati Bengals
Houston Texans -9.5 44
My Pick: Is Matt Shaub playing that well??? Yes he is. Give the points.
Seattle Seahawks
San Francisco 49′ers -5 42
My Pick: As much as it pains me to say I am also a realist. The Seattle Seahawks are now the worst team in the NFL. I thought that perhaps Seneca Wallace could put something together and Julius Jones would provide some much needed relief, but I was wrong. Hasselsack is out indefinitely and the defense is on their heels. The only good thing I see happening in Seattle is that we are one week closer to the end of the Holmgren era. San Fran led by JT O’Sullivan is actually looking better than they have in years, but they still aren’t that good and Frank Gore has been a bust thus far. The 9er’s have been getting closer and closer to putting together a complete game with a W at the end and I see no reason why they can’t get it done against my beleagured Seahawks. The 9′ers will keep a good mix going of Frank Gore and the pass game, the Seattle D can’t stop anything right now, San Fran will cover. Give the points.
Monday Night Football October 27th
Indianapolis Colts
Tennessee Titans -4 42.5
My Pick: Tennessee is looking sweet! The absense of Vince Young has only made them better, listen closely to the commentators on TV when they talk about Tenny, no mention of VY whatsoever, it is officially the Kerry Collins show over there. The running game continues to be strong with the 2 pronged attack from LenDale White and Chris Johnson. The Titans D is perhaps their greatest resource as they continue to shut down opposing offenses each week. Overall they are perhaps the most sound team in the East right now as shown by their 6-0 record. Indy has been a hit and miss team as of late and you have to wonder if it is the offense line that has been the source of all of their heartbreak. But where is Addia, Rhodes, Marvin Harrison??? Peyton can’t do it all by himself. Their defense has been caught slippin and the absense of Bob Sanders doesn’t help at all. The Colts have alot to sort out before they can get back to the playoff caliber team that everyone expects them to be every year. At -4 it seems like they could get caught by the 1 point hook, but I think based on the defensive play of the Titans lately that they will most likely keep the pressure on Manning and force the run which is not that good. Tennessee will continue the ground and pound to develop the passing game and catch the Colts off guard. Tennessee will go on to be 7-0 after this week and should be able to cover the points no problemo, they are on fire right now and Indy just doesn’t have enough to extinguish the flame. Give the points.
