Who does Oregon State think they are, beating USC? No one saw that coming, especially me. This week kicks off with the Thursday night game featuring Pittsburgh at South Florida and wraps up on Saturday night with Oregon at USC.
Pittsburgh Panthers at (10) South Florida Bulls
7:30 PM ET, October 2, 2008
Raymond James Stadium , Tampa , FL
Spread: South Florida -13.5
My Pick: I am a big South Florida fan and have been following their progress over the last couple seasons and at 5-0 they are looking sweet! These guys racked up 520 total yards against NC State last week and when you compare the stats of each team its like night and day. I’m not saying that Pitt is a bad team, but they just are not good enough to get it done in South Florida. QB Matt Grothe is playing like a champ with 8 TD’s and only 2 INT’s on his record, he is able to spread the ball around and keep both his star WR’s Johnson and Love very busy, while being able to run the ball as well if need be which keeps the opposing defense very busy. I’m not going to even bother talking about Pitt, their stats are sub par and they have to run the ball all night. The 13.5 point spread has a hook that can go either way, but if South Florida can throw and Pitt can’t then its looking more like the half point hook is in your favor as in they will win by at least 2 TD’s. Take the Bulls, give the points.
(23) Oregon Ducks at (9) USC Trojans
8:00 PM ET, October 4, 2008
Los Angeles Coliseum , Los Angeles , CA
Spread: USC -16.5
My Pick: Does anyone know how USC can go from #1 in the polls to #9? The answer is they lost to a scrub ass Oregon State team in the 4th quarter. These guys are like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, I don’t understand it. One week Sanchez throws 5 TD’s and the next week they can’t seem to do anything right. I’m going to make this very easy…USC has been exposed and the Ducks are a good team that will take advantage of the game film from last week, USC will win at home, but they will not cover the points. Take the Ducks, take the points.
