Mississippi Rebels last saturday simply crushed Southeastern Louisiana 52 – 6 with an impressive performance by QB Jevan Snead with 209 yards, 3 touchdown passes and no interceptions, also RB Brandon Bolden rushed 13 times and completed 105 yards with an average of 8.1 yards per carry, and WR Pat Patterson with 79 yards received and 1 touchdown. These numbers just gives us a good look of what Mississippi is all about this year, they look solid, they look strong and eventhough they have had some injuries they always find a good player to replace the one injured so they haven’t left any holes on offense or defense. This particular game will be a conference clash so they certainly need to perform according to the standards they have showed so far, they will also need the special teams like they did on this last game to be able to beat South Carolina at home. Ole Miss is all about young blood, the key for them is to involve these freshmen and make them useful and productive for the team like they have been.

South Carolina Gamecocks had a break this week against Florida Atlantic 38 – 16 since they lost their last game against a ranked team the week before (No.21 Georgia), now they get to face No.4 Mississippi at home and that sounds like an advantage but it’s not like that for them at all. South Carolina played great on saturday and they had the best running game in years, they even set a mark for rushed yards on the first quarter of the game. They improved from the season opener 108 yards rushed to 114 yards rushed on their second game against Georgia but on this third game had 147 yards after the first quarter. Of course, Moe Brown picked up 50 of them on the Gamecocks’ first play of the game on a flanker reverse. RB Jarvis Giles added a 38-yard run later in the quarter. South Carolina finished with 180 yards on 18 carries in the first half and had 287 yards on 35 carries for the game. They will need more to defeat Mississippi and that is some air game, the QB needs to step up if they want to at least fight a little, they should get good yardage with the running game but you need to use as many weapons as possible to defeat the No.4 team in the nation.
