G glow on white 800 NCAA Football Week 1 Georgia at Oklahoma State VS. Oklahoma State NCAA Football Week 1 Georgia at Oklahoma State

No.13 Georgia Bulldogs face No.9 Oklahoma State Cowboys in what it looks like a great Week 1 warm up challenge. Both teams are ready and eager to start their road to the obvious Bowl season but they also need to prove that they can get a better ranking spot …

Georgia Bulldogs made No.13 in the rakings after last year’s preseason No.1, sounds like they were downgraded but the team is not nearly as good as it was last year, this season could be seen as a rebuilding one for Mark Richt’s club as Stafford was selected first overall in the NFL draft by Detroit and Moreno was taken 12th by Denver. To replace Moreno, who topped the SEC with 1,463 yards and was second with 16 touchdowns in 2008, the Bulldogs likely will go with Richard Samuel who averaged 5.1 yards per carry in a limited role in 2008, but Richt is expecting bigger things from the sophomore this season.

Oklahoma State Cowboys coach Mike Gundy proclaimed his team was “not ready for the big time” after a huge loss at Georgia to kick off the 2007 season but the 9th ranked Cowboys have faith in this opening season game, they will prove how good they got since that 2007 game. To try and get the job done, Gundy has one of the most potent offenses in college football. Led by quarterback Zac Robinson, tailback Kendall Hunter and wide receiver Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State was ninth in the country in scoring last year, averaging 40.8 points. Robinson threw 25 touchdown passes and Hunter ran for 1,626 yards and 16 TDs, but Bryant is perhaps the Cowboys’ most electrifying player since Barry Sanders in the 1980s. As a sophomore in 2008, he caught 87 passes — including 19 touchdowns — for 1,480 yards. He also averaged nearly 18 yards per punt return, finding the end zone twice; and like Gundy, Bryant is expecting his team to accomplish more.
