This will be the second GRAND SLAM tournament of the year, and the surface will be clay so that will make things a little more interesting now that Nadal obviously the favorite just lost at Madrid against his rival Roger Federer.

Rafael Nadal had an impressive record with no losses on clay for almost 3 years but Roger Federer just proved to the World that Nadal is just human, he can be beaten and Djokovic and Murray will be right around the corner too, these players have great quality and technic and they all have great chances to win it all.

Roger Federer has lost the last three finals here but he has been training hard, he will need to use all the tricks in the book to be able to beat Rafa, in Madrid he showed us that playing “outside the box” might be the way to beat an almost unbeatable player, learning new tricks is out of the question but may be the old ones will do just fine, all Federer has to do is play tough, quick, easy and finish his games faster than the rest, that will be the key.

Rafa Nadal will play the first round against Marcos Daniel from Brazil, that will be a no brainer, Nadal In 3 straight sets. Federer will face Alberto Martin from Spain, this will be an regular match for Federer and he will win without a problem.

The biggest challenges Nadal will face in the road to the finals are Nikolay Davydenko (10) from Russia and Fernando Verdasco (8) from Spain. Federer’s biggest threat will be Andy Roddick (6) from USA but he has been able to defeat him in every surface so it will be just another little bump on the road, nothing to be concerned.

Novak Djokovic (4) from Serbia will be the player to watch, all he needs to do is control his anger thru the tournament and he will do just fine. He managed to forced Nadal to a 3 set intense game and he almost defeated the greatest tennis player on clay ever, he just missed his chance by a hook, this might be a great opportunity to show what he’s really made of.

Andy Murray (3) from Great Britain is too young for this surface, he doesn’t have the experience to win it all, he might go far but not as far, I don’t see him as the champ.

The biggest surprise in this tournament without a question will be Juan Martin Del Potro (5) from Argentina, he has been playing great and he has the same technic as the great Nadal, we will be able to see great things from him although he might not make the semis but who knows, may be he will …

MY PREDICTION WILL BE A FINAL BETWEEN NADAL AND FEDERER AND ROGER FEDERER WILL DEFEAT NADAL IN 5 SETS ENDING A LONG LASTING DOMAIN FROM THE SPANISH PLAYER AT THE CITY OF LIGHTS.
