Its time again for the NFL Draft and already its looking like total OFFENSE. With the likes of Calvin Johnson (WR), JaMarcus Russell (QB), Adrian Peterson (RB), and Brady Quinn (QB) rounding out the predicted top 10 picks it looks like the scrub teams from last year that will be picking first have a virtual treasure trove of rookies to choose from to help and improve there offensive games. Oakland will be picking first this year after a dismal 2 – 14 showing last year, you can bet that Al Davis is pulling out all the stops, or at least he should be. Oakland has not had a franchise quarterback that earned his paycheck in over a decade. Mr. Davis has already hired the youngest coach in the league, A young sprat that goes by the name of Lane Kiffin who should bring a new sense of energy and excitment to the team. So in order to capitalize on there 1st round pick they need to draft a quarterback they can rely on and pair him up with the young coach and see what happens. They have a couple of choices: Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell. I think Quinn is more of a traditional very analytical player like Peyton Manning and thats not what a new program with a new coach and everyone knows that under the Al Davis regime that no ones job is secure. Then you look at JaMarcus Russell, very big, very strong and not afraid to get out of the pocket and run over a saftey from time to time. That is what the Raiders need, they need some kinda spark to energize the team and get them back to at least .500. So when the props go up hopefully tomarrow or at least saturday morning take a look at odds to be drafted #1. If the Raiders can hold on to there number one pick they will definantly be looking for a quarterback and JaMarcus Russell is the man, and if they don’t draft them well then Al Davis should give up all control of the organization and let someone who is a little more in touch with the times run things.
