VS.
The New York Jets and their rookie QB Mark Sanchez proved to all their fans that they are more than ready and that they are fully committed to get a spot at the Superbowl. Last Saturday they defeated Cincinnati Bengals and QB Carson Palmer and made them looked terrible so now they moved to bigger and better things and they get to play San Diego Chargers who have been solid all year long.

New York Jets played like real champs against the Bengals and they made them pay every chance they got with a great running game. QB Mark Sanchez barely threw the ball but he did great and had a completion rate of 80% with 1 td and no interceptions. Most of the dirty work was done by the running game so it was not a one man show but they certainly looked unstoppable. Other players involved in this great offense are RB Thomas Jones, RB Shonn Greene, WR Jerricho Cotchery and WR Braylon Edwards. Basically the most dominant man in this offense is Thomas Jones and his aggressive run. He will be one of the responsible for the Jets success or defeat as well as Mark Sanchez if he decides to throw. The key on this game for the Jets will be to force Rivers to throw in a hurry and have their air game controlled. Jets need to blitz all afternoon long to get them in trouble and they will need to run like they did last game.
San Diego Chargers finished their regular season with an amazing record of 13-3 and they are feeling more than ready to get to the next round but first they will have to beat the high energy of the Jets and their heavy running game. The Chargers run a double threat offense with a perfect combination of running and passing that could be the envy of the best NFL teams. QB Phillip Rivers has won 11 games in a row this season and he doesn’t want to slow down. Their running game is up to par and the air show looks better and better so the question could be if the Jets have what it takes to stop the Chargers. Rivers high completion rate (65%) shows a more secure thrower, handing the ball to his runners sounds like another way to secure the position and the control of the game and if he puts pressure on the Jets offense the rookie might crumble. Other players involved in offense are RB LaDainian Tomlinson, RB Darren Sproles, WR Vincent Jackson and TE Antonio Gates. Chargers’ key to success will be to defend the run as much as possible and force the rookie to throw on the run as well, if they can run the ball and chew the clock down they will be having the afternoon they want.
GAME ODDS
NEW YORK JETS 42
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS -7½ -105
THIS GAME COULD BE A HARSH LESSON TO THE ROOKIE IF THE JETS PLAN DOESN’T GO AS THEY WANT. THE CHARGERS ARE EXPERIENCED AND I BELIEVE THEY DON’T HAVE ENOUGH GUTS TO DEFEAT THE RUNNING GAME THEY WILL FACE. MY PICK WILL BE NEW YORK JETS +7½ -115.
