NCAA Basketball Betting – Arkansas Razorbacks to Snare another Huge Home Win over Vandy
Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.
NCAA Basketball betting continues once again for basketball fans this week, and Bookmaker Sportsbook brings you our picks for this Tuesday night clash of foes from the SEC between the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, AR will be the site of Tuesday, January 31st’s NCAA basketball betting SEC showdown between the Arkansas Razorbacks (15-5, 4-7-1 ATS) and the Vanderbilt Commodores (15-5, 9-7 ATS). This 9:00 ET tipoff will be televised nationally on ESPN and ESPN3.com.
On the surface, it looks like the Razorbacks and the Commodores are having roughly the same sort of season. Both teams are 15-5, and both have winning records early in the SEC season. In fact, when you look at the NCAA basketball betting statistics, you see that Vanderbilt is outscoring teams 74.2-64.8 this year, while Arkansas is outscoring opponents 74.6-65.8.
The truth of the matter though, is that the Commodores are absolutely going to be in the NCAA Tournament as long as they don’t fall apart, while the Razorbacks know that they probably have to get to 22 or 23 wins to make sure they go dancing.
What we can say about Arkansas though, is that it has played well at home this year. The team is only 4-3-1 ATS, but it now has wins over the LSU Tigers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Michigan Wolverines on this court, wins that are going to look quite good to the Selection Committee come March Madness.
However, Vanderbilt has some big wins on the road already. Beating the Alabama Crimson Tide and Marquette Golden Eagles – two teams that are probably dancing this year – was key, and it was a part of a run to 5-0 ATS this year on the road for the Commodores.
Another difference that is apparent when analyzing the NCAA basketball betting odds is that Vandy has a stud in John Jenkins that can take over a game all by himself. Jenkins is just a pure scorer, and he is averaging 19.6 points per game. He is one of the most lethal long range shooters in the country, making 44.8 percent of his three point baskets, and when he gets going, defenses just have a terrible time trying to stop him.
Missing Marshawn Powell to a season ending knee injury in November was brutal for the Hogs, but they have held their own with BJ Young and Mardracus Wade scoring double digits on the average night. Other scorers like Rickey Scott and Julysses Nobles have put together some fantastic games as well, and both are just under the double digit scoring mark on average.
NCAA Basketball Betting Prediction – The Razorbacks are surprisingly 6-2 SU over the course of the last eight in this series. The ATS proceedings are split at four games apiece in that run. This one just means a lot more to Arkansas than it does to Vandy, and we think that the Hogs get the job done and take another step towards dancing in March.
