CBB Betting – Iowa State Cyclones to blow past the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road Tuesday
Written by North Shore Sports, INC
When you log on to your Bookmaker Sportsbook account on Tuesday, look for the Iowa State Cyclones to blow past the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the CBB betting odds.
Iowa State (16-6, 11-7 ATS) is ranked a surprising 35th in the country on the Pomeroy Ratings right now, so look for the Cyclones to get a big CBB betting road win when they visit Oklahoma State (11-11. 10-10 ATS) at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, OK on Tuesday, February 7th at 7:00 ET ion ESPN2.
Oklahoma State had some national notoriety recently when it upset Missouri on the CBB betting lines here in Stillwater, but the Cowboys caught the Tigers flat following a big win at Baylor, and even with that stunner, Oklahoma State is still only ranked 102nd by Pomeroy. The Cowboys are a poor shooting team and a poor rebounding team, so look for Iowa State to continue its surprising season here.
Few teams in the Big 12, or in the country for that matter, had as big a turnover in personnel prior to this season as Iowa State did. The Cyclones lost three seniors from last year as well as three other players that transferred out of the school, but they also added four transfers coming in!
The end result of all that shuffling has been quite good on the CBB betting odds, as the Cyclones rank 33rd in the country in offensive efficiency and 67th in defensive efficiency. Iowa State has become a solid basketball team at both ends of the court, and its only real weakness appears to be two-point defense, where it ranks just 232nd nationally at 49.3 percent.
It was thought the biggest returnee for Iowa State from last season was the team’s leading scorer Scott Christopherson, but he has actually slipped into more of a role player this season. Instead, the Cyclones have been led in a big way by sophomore Royce White, who leads the team in scoring (14.0), assists (4.5), rebounds (9.5), field goal percentage (54.0) and blocks (1.2).
While White is the obvious MVP of the team, Michigan State transfer Chris Allen and sophomore Melvin Ejim have also played key roles in transforming the Cyclones from a squad that was just 16-16 and missed the post-season last year.
Oklahoma State is probably one of the weakest 11-11 CBB betting teams when you consider that this club ranks 255th in effective field goal percentage, 234th in two-point shooting, 279th in three-point shooting, and 312th in offensive rebounding percentage. This team obviously lacks the offense to take advantage of Iowa State’s vulnerable interior defense.
So how do the Cowboys have 11 wins? Well, they do rank 56th in effective field goal percentage allowed on the defensive end, but still, besides the stunner over seventh ranked Missouri, the second highest ranked team on the Pomeroy Ratings that Oklahoma State has beaten is 66th ranked Missouri State, so the schedule has helped.
The Cyclones would mark the second highest ranked team that the Cowboys have beaten, but we do not see that happening.
CBB Betting Pick: Take the Iowa State Cyclones on Tuesday
