NCAAB Betting Online:

The Louisville Cardinals (9-0, 4-2 ATS) will look to remain perfect in NCAA basketball betting action on Saturday, December 17, 2011 when they welcome the Memphis Tigers (5-3, 3-4 ATS) into the KFC Yum! Center for the program’s first meeting in six years; tip-off on CBS is slated for 4:00 ET.

Memphis will no doubt enter this afternoon’s tussle with the Cardinals in an ornery mood after the squad had its three-game win streak snapped at the hands of the Ohio Valley representative Murray State Racers its last time out. Forward Donte Poole proved to be too much for the Tigers to contend with, as he drained six of eight shots from beyond the arc to help the Racers convert 45% of their three-point tries en route to the 76-72 outright road win and cover as 10.5 point underdogs. Memphis had won and covered its previous two games against Austin Peay and Miami.

Thankfully for head coach Josh Pastner’s squad heading into today’s NCAA basketball betting lines showdown, the Cardinals have only shot 31.7% from downtown (#239) and have only been average offensively scoring 71.6 points per game (#117) while converting at a 45.2% clip from the field (#115). That right there gives Memphis the edge offensively considering their 81.8 point per game average ranks 16th in the country and their 48.7 shooting percentage checks in ranked 22nd; adding to the Tigers hot shooting is a 38.9% conversion rate from beyond the arc (#47). Memphis won its only true road game when it beat Miami back in early December, but lost a pair of neutral court nail biters in overtime against both Georgetown and Tennessee in Maui.

Though head coach Rick Pitino’s Cardinals suffered a major blow early in the season when junior guard Mike Marra went down with a torn ACL, the ‘Ville carries an unblemished record heading into what many might consider to be their toughest nonconference matchup of the season. Since toppling Vanderbilt 62-60 in overtime at the beginning of December, the Cardinals have gone on to smash both Indiana – Purdue and Fairleigh Dickinson each of the last two times they took to the hardwood. The Cardinals have only ventured away from their own court once this season, and have won each of their eight home tussles by an average of nearly 20 PPG.

Though the offense has been slightly above average at best, Louisville has flat out balled at the defensive end of the court limiting its opposition to just 52.7 points per game (#5) and a shooting clip of just 34.6% from the field (#6). On top of that, the Cardinals have also benefited from out rebounding their opposition by just over seven rebounds per game. Guards Kyle Kuric (12.9 PPG), Chris Smith (10.6 PPG) and Peyton Siva (10.3 PPG) check in as the only double-digit scorers for this offense, and big men Gorgui Dieng and Chane Behanen have cleaned the glass combining to pull down an average of 17.1 rebounds per game.

NCAA Basketball Betting Pick: The Tiger-Cardinal rivalry has been on hiatus since 2005 when both teams were still members of Conference USA. The last meeting saw Louisville squeak out a 75-74 win at the FedEx Forum. After just falling out of the Top 25, Memphis will no doubt be looking to get back in the good graces of the pollsters by handing one of its most hated rivals its first loss of the season on its own court. Grab whatever points oddsmakers are willing to give with Memphis and look for the Tigers to put forth their best effort of the young season!

So will Memphis bounce back from its embarrassing NCAA basketball betting home loss and take it to the Cardinals, or will Louisville continue to shine at home and remain undefeated?
