CBB Gambling – Ohio State to hand Hoosiers their first Home Defeat of 2011
Written by North Shore Sports, INC
A huge CBB gambling battle is set to go in the Big Ten at Bookmaker Sportsbook on New Year’s Eve when the Ohio State Buckeyes and Indiana Hoosiers collide on the hardwood.
The Ohio State Buckeyes (12-1, 4-4 ATS) will look to continue their CBB gambling domination over the Indiana Hoosiers (12-0, 7-0 ATS) when the Big Ten rivals collide at Assembly Hall on Saturday, December 31, 2011; tip-off from Bloomington is scheduled for 6:00 ET with ESPN2 & ESPN3.com handling the live broadcasts.
The Buckeyes will invade Assembly Hall after opening Big Ten play up at home against the Northwestern Wildcats on Wednesday night. Heading into that contest, OSU was fresh off its first pointspread cover in three tries after pounding the Miami (OH) Redhawks 69-40 as 24-point favorites. Head coach Thad Matta’s squad put forth one of its best performances in weeks after struggling to get past South Carolina and just going through the motions against Lamar.
Ohio State shot 44.8 percent from the field and had three players tally double digits in scoring with William Buford’s 18 points leading the way. They were however very much so lackadaisical on the glass getting outrebounded 32-30, and if that type of effort is put forth here against a Hoosiers club that also excels in the rebounding department, the Buckeyes could have their seven-game CBB gambling odds win streak over Indiana snapped in this spot. Jared Sullinger and his mates have split their two true road games straight up but failed to cover both falling at Kansas (78-67) and beating South Carolina (74-66).
Like its opponent, Indiana will open up its respective Big Ten slate up Wednesday night in East Lansing where it will battle Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans. The Hoosiers remained perfect their last time out at home where they pounded the Maryland Baltimore City Retrievers 89-47 in a non-lined match-up before the team’s holiday break. The win came with a bit of bad news, however, after guard Verdell Jones III was sidelined with a major hip injury. He wasn’t able to give it a go against the Spartans, and he along with forward Will Sheehey (leg injury), might be held out of this one as well.
That’s an average of just over 19 PPG missing from head coach Tom Crean’s arsenal, which will leave even more of a scoring duty for freshman phenom Cody Zeller to pick up. The brother of UNC’s Tyler Zeller enters tonight’s CBB gambling throwdown averaging 15.1 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 1.7 blocks per game. At this rate, he’s no doubt the front runner for Big Ten frosh of the Year, but he’s going to need his teammates to help pick up the slack. To date, Indiana has won all nine of its home games highlighted by wins and covers against Butler (75-59) and Kentucky (73-72).
CBB Gambling Selection – Ohio State has dominated this conference rivalry dating back to 2009 winning all six of the meetings both straight up and against spread. It swept the season series a year ago winning 85-67 in Bloomington (-13) and 82-61 in Columbus; the ‘over’ cashed in both contests. Heading into Wednesday night’s battle, OSU had covered five of its last seven against Big Ten opposition, and with Indiana sporting a poor 0-6 ATS mark its L/6 in conference heading into the MSU game, we look for Jared Sullinger and William Buford to be too much for the Hoosiers to handle possibly shorthanded.
