CFL Betting Odds
BC Lions (+5)
Calgary Stampeders (-5)
The Lions have won three games in a row and four out of five, but there is a real question as to how good their victories on the CFL betting odds really have been. Two wins against the Toronto Argonauts isn’t all that impressive, and beating the Saskatchewan Roughriders in their old form under ex-Head Coach Greg Marshall and the Edmonton Eskimos without any of their wide receivers is nothing to write home about either.
So, the question: Is QB Buck Pierce really ready to lead his team onto solid ground in the playoff push? The Leos could have a two game cushion with seven games to play with a win, but in all likelihood, it really seems like the last playoff spot is going to be determined between them and the Riders, arguably the hottest team in the league.
Calgary is just 2-3 at home this year, and it has to be concerning to Head Coach John Hufnagel that the road team has won six games in a row both SU and ATS in this series. However, he knows that he has a side that is starting to click offensively once again, and that’s bad news for anyone fading the Stamps on the CFL wagering odds.
QB Henry Burris is just 90 yards away from the 3,000 yard barrier, and he should get there in the first half this week. However, he has to do a better job finishing drives, as 15 TD passes in nine games isn’t very Henry Burris-like. Last week, the team had to settle for six Rob Paredes field goal attempts, and he made five of the six.
Hufnagel is going to want to make sure that his defense steps it up in this one to beat the CFL gambling odds. Allowing at least 20 points in five straight games and conceding an average of 25.8 points per game isn’t what has made the Stamps perennial favorites on the Grey Cup betting lines year after year, and if that unit doesn’t improve, they’ll never be able to truly get to the next level as the elite team in this league.
CFL Odds Picks - It feels like this spread should be a tad over a touchdown and not a tad under a touchdown. We just want to see the Lions step up and beat one of the better teams in the league to make sure that they aren’t fool’s gold before we back them. Go with the hosts on Saturday night.
