The NCAA football odds for the Armed Forces Bowl are posted at Bookmaker Sportsbook, and today, we’re taking a look at the clash for another great bowl game, as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the BYU Cougars duke it out.
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane (8-4, 7-5 ATS) and the BYU Cougars (9-3, 8-4 ATS) are set to tango on Friday, December 30, 2011 from Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, TX. We’re breaking down the NCAA football odds for the Armed Forces Bowl, which can be seen live on ESPN and ESPN3.com starting at 12:00 ET.
NCAA Football Odds
Tulsa Golden Hurricane (+3) -110
BYU Cougars (-3) -110
We still don’t quite understand why the Golden Hurricane didn’t get a heck of a lot of respect this year. If you take out games against the Boise State Broncos, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and Houston Cougars, all teams which had thoughts about a BCS bowl game until late in the season, this team was remarkable. Tulsa went 8-0 SU and 7-1 ATS in its other eight games, and it averaged over 40 points per game against all other foes.
This is going to be the conclusion of the career of GJ Kinne, who has had a great time playing with Tulsa. In three years as a starter, Kinne helped the Golden Hurricane beat the NCAA football betting odds with his legs and his arm. He has thrown for 9,258 yards and 78 TDs and rushed for 1,365 yards and 15 TDs. This year, he was without Damaris Johnson, who was kicked off of the team for some off the field issues, and that certainly hurt this offense.
That being said, BYU could have a tough time stopping this tremendous rushing attack. Ja’Terian Douglas and Trey Watts each had over 800 rushing yards this year for the Golden Hurricane, and these two are the reason why this team beat the NCAA football gambling odds so often.
We also give BYU some credit for the way that it played during its first year of independence. We are a tiny bit worried about the level of competition that it has run up against, as its only win against a bowl eligible team this year came against the Utah State Aggies, and in the only other three games against bowl teams, the squad went 0-3 SU and lost two of the three by double digits.
NCAA Football Odds Prediction – These two teams have faced off recently, playing a home and home series in 2006 and 2007; the host won and covered both outings. We know that the Cougars have covered six in a row on the NCAA football wagering odds, but when push comes to shove, we just love the fact that Tulsa has not just beaten, but pummeled all of the teams that it should have taken care of this year, and we think that it will do the same in the Armed Forces Bowl to an unsuspecting group of Cougars.

NCAA Football Betting Odds – Armed Forces Bowl Pits Cadets and Mustangs
Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.
Bookmaker Sportsbook presents another duel against the NCAA football betting odds this week with the Armed Forces Bowl. The Army Black Knights and SMU Mustangs square off in an important affair that college football betting fans surely won’t want to miss.
NCAAF Betting Online: The bowl portion of the college football wagering season continues on Thursday, December 30th at 12:00 ET, and fans trying to beat the NCAA football betting odds with mobile betting will get to watch the Army Black Knights take on the SMU Mustangs at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in University Park, TX. You can watch the Armed Forces Bowl this year on either ESPN or ESPN3.com.
For Army, this is the program’s first bowl game since last participating in the Independence Bowl back in 1996, and the joy at the academy after clinching up a sixth win on the year was amazing.
No, this isn’t the greatest team of the 70 to go to a bowl this year, but particularly in a game called the Armed Forces Bowl, you know that there is going to be a certain aura around the Cadets that cannot be forgotten when analyzing the NCAA football betting odds.
Trent Steelman is the captain for an Army offense that really does nothing but pound the pigskin. Ranking dead last in the nation in passing was no surprise for the Black Knights this year, as getting all the way up to No. 10 in the land in rushing at 258.0 yards per game was really the key.
Jared Hassin and Steelman combined for over 1,600 yards and 20 TDs this year on the ground, while the next four backs in line combined for over 1,100.
SMU isn’t a bowl team all that often either, but Head Coach June Jones knows that this is a golden opportunity for Kyle Padron and company. Padron nearly led the team to the Conference USA Championship this year, but after falling to the UCF Knights, the Mustangs bowl bid dropped significantly.
Still, averaging 416.2 yards per game this year was very impressive and has certainly caught our eye when picking apart the NCAA football betting odds in this one. Padron, Zach Line, and Aldrick Robinson have all put up gaudy numbers this year. Padron has thrown for 3,526 yards, Line has rushed for 1,391 yards, and Robinson has had 1,225 yards as a receiver. Robinson also leads the team with 13 scores.
Defensively, SMU has found ways to stay in games this year, and this is going to have to be no exception. The unit allowed 363.9 yards and 26.4 points per game, numbers which weren’t eye popping to say the least, but were definitely solid for a Conference USA school.
The Armed Forces Bowl features NCAA football betting odds of SMU -8 and a ‘total’ of 52. It’s not often that we talk about big time favorites covering spreads in bowl games, but this is going to be a little too much for Army to overcome. The Mustangs are definitely going in the right direction, and the Cadets are just thrilled to be here. Lay the big chalk with confidence.
